Iris (Xinyang) Li
Iris studied music education for students K-12 at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, one of Australia's most acclaimed arts institutions. Throughout her years of teaching, Iris has developed a pedagogic style that reveals your child's hidden musical talents. She has a gentle approach that emphasises musicality but is also technically correct. She emphasizes artful musicality and uses fun and hands-on teaching approaches inspired by Orff and Kodaly. She guarantees your child a music lesson that is fun but is packed with heaps of knowledge about music! Iris is a NESA-accredited teacher.
Iris was a groundbreaking musician at the Conservatorium of Sydney. She was the first student to study the pipa (Chinese lute) in a degree course at the Conservatorium. So you and your kids might enjoy authentic Chinese music and learn about Chinese culture too.
Brian Sim
Brian is a Masters graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in conducting and performance. He is an active performer, having performed most recently in China, Germany and Singapore. He has taken master classes with some of the most esteemed musicians in Europe such as Lior Shambadal, the Principal Conductor, Berlin Symphony Orchestra and Rinat Ibragimov, former Principal, London Symphony Orchestra. Throughout his educational career he has been awarded prizes and scholarships including the University of Sydney George and Margaret Henderson postgraduate scholarship.
Brian teaches double bass, piano, aural training skills, music theory, and beginning cello.
He also teaches music at a host of schools including Newington, Strathfield, Lewisham, Drummoyne, Anzac Park public schools (to name a few). He has experience in the production and conducting of operas such as the Rockdale Opera and the Sydney Conservatorium Opera.
Brian utilises his vast educational experiences and musicianship to bring the most expert tuition to his students — one which balances rigorous technical training with a deep feeling of creativity.
